I’m a dreamer. I love to dream big dreams.  I think Ellen Johnson Sirleaf put it best when she said, “The size of your dreams must always exceed your current capacity to achieve them. If your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough.”

So, dream big!   However, dreaming isn’t enough.  A dream without action is a DAYDREAM.   I don’t want to simply dream. I want to experience the reality of my dream.   Honestly, we spend a lot of time frustrated because dreams don’t become a reality as fast as we would like them.

When given the option, I’m taking the elevator over the stairs.  Why? Because it’s faster and a lot easier. It requires zero effort. Rarely is life an elevator from one major win to the next. Most of the time, our life is a staircase that requires us to take one step at a time to get to the next level.

Those steps are the ones that define us.  Sure, the promotion at work or the big raise gets all of the attention.  Moments of bravery on a battlefield reward us with accolades to put in our trophy case.  Those moments are great and are definitely moments on our “highlight reel.” However, those moments don’t come without small simple steps of obedience.

Here’s why:

They keep us constantly moving in the right direction.

“It’s so easy to overestimate the importance of one defining moment and underestimate the value of making small improvements on a daily basis…If you can get 1% better every day for a year, you’ll be 37 times better when you’re done.”
-James Clear (Atomic Habits)

What if you started taking small, consistent steps toward Jesus EVERY DAY?

Would you want that?  I can assure you that JESUS wants that for you.  I’m not a theologian, but I’m absolutely convinced of this one thing:

Maybe you desperately want that, but you have no idea how to actually accomplish it.  I believe if you take some small intentional steps every day toward Jesus, you will grow spiritually strong.   Jesus wants that relationship with you, and He wants that relationship to GROW

Here’s the good news.  You already have everything you need as a follower of Jesus to grow spiritually.

2 Peter 1:3 says, “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life…”

As a follower of Jesus, you have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit on the inside of you. He has equipped you with everything you need to live the life He has called you to live.  It’s that simple.

We also have some great tools that will help you on this journey as well.  In other words, you aren’t walking this journey alone!
